French Cuisine - Tooth Brasserie

Honestly speaking, I wasn't a fan of french cuisine in the past. But I am now a big lover of it cause of my boyfriend!! We're now always searching for good french cuisine to go for and if you guys have any recommendations, do feel free to share with us so we can go try it out! :D

And as all french restaurant, bread and butter will be served as a starter. Oh and I am soo in love with the bread! It's so soft and has a sweet taste in it. I'm just ADDICTED!! I can just have that for the whole dinner.

The first dish is oven-baked burgundy snails with tomato fondue and garlic butter. The overall taste matches well and the way they handled it is just right. Oh and if you like, you can also match the sauce with the bread. We literally cleaned out the whole plate, no joke!

We then ordered truffle fries as I am a crazy lover of fries! However I feel that the fries are just pretty normal. Not really special nor crispy.

Then to our main course!!
Crispy Duck Leg Confit
My boyfriend had the duck leg confit which was a recommended dish. The overall taste was nice and the duck leg was soft and savory. Portion was also just nice.
Beef Cheek Bourguignon
This dish is also another recommended dish. I heard that they only serve a limited number of dish each day. I am totally in love with the dish! The beef is so tender and juicy~ Matching with the mushroom and sauce, it's just perfect! It may look small, but the portion was just nice.

And lastly, to our dessert. We had chocolate lava cake. The chocolate was hot and melted together with the cake when eaten. The best to top with such cake is definitely vanilla ice cream! It was a nice dessert to end off for the dinner. Not to filling and not too sweet.

The overall ambiance of the restaurant is just nice. Quiet and romantic ambiance, perfect for date nights with your partner! Food is nice and pricing is pretty affordable too! Would definitely come back again for more!

Soi Lou Weng Hot Pot Restaurant

Steamboat is very common and can be found in many countries, but clam and crab steamboat is something I have never tried before. Was searching online for places to go to for my Hong Kong trip and happen to come across this steamboat shop which has quite good reviews. So I decided to visit this store and try it out.
There is currently only 1 outlet in Hong Kong is located at Jordan area. It took me quite sometime to find the place as it is quite a walk from the MTR station.
Was so happy to see this signboard after finding the place for 20 mins!
The shop is located inside Jordan Centre and the sign is not very big hence people tend to miss the place. So do keep a lookout for the signboard when looking for this place.

We went on a weekday and was there around 7pm, hence there wasn't a queue nor much people at that time. However, we did made a booking beforehand as I read reviews that the place is normally full and waiting time is quite long. Around 8pm+ the place was really packed with people and maybe cause the place is quite small, I would recommend people who are heading there to make a booking a day before to prevent long waiting time.

Just by looking at the menu makes me drool already~
They not only have the clams and crab steamboat, they also have clams and lobster steamboat! But of course we tried the chef recommended and best seller clams and crab steamboat! Actually their base is just clams and mixed mushroom and if you want the crab or lobster, you can choose to add in. Price differs with the type of crab you want and how big the crab is. We chose the one with roe and a medium size one. You can also choose if you want a big or small one as well as the level of spiciness. We chose the medium level one and we couldn't take it! After finishing our meal, the waitress then told us that if want to taste the full flavor of the soup, it is better choose without adding spice. So now I know what is the best way to have enjoy the full rich flavor of the soup next time!
After ordering the soup, you can then choose what other items you want to add for your steamboat. Everything is a la carte and I would say the things here are not really cheap but they use premium and fresh ingredients!
Condiments that you can use to make create your own sauce. It is chargeable by per pax at HK18 each which was quite not worthwhile for people like me who does not use any of it at all :(
Look how rich the soup is and just by smelling the aroma makes me drool! There was indeed a lot of crab roe and it was really very flavorful!!!
We got the angus beef and it tasted really great! But of course also $$$ too. But with the quality, I would say it's worth it!!
We also got the hand made beef balls.
 Fish Maw
Cheese balls which tasted quite nice, something I didn't quite expected. It is very different from the normal fish balls we have as the outer is more hard not the bouncy kind. But together with the melted cheese in it, the overall taste was just right.
Some other vegetables and cuttlefish which are the usual stuffs that we order for steamboat. We also ordered a jug of lemon barley to share.
The overall experience here was wonderful. The soup base was something very different and unique and was really very tasty!! It is something new and not commonly found in any other steamboat places. However I would say the price here is a bit steep so do prepare to spend a little more if you are dining here. I would say the clam and crab soup alone is already quite filling and we definitely over ordered our food! Haha! What's new when a bunch of gluttons are eating together. So I would recommend people to order probably 1-2 dish to go along first and only adding on if you're still not full after finishing to avoid being too bloated or wasting food. If you are looking for something different to try out in Hong Kong, to visit this place at Jordan!

Last Day in Tokyo

Can't believe it's my last day in Tokyo already!!! Our flight is in the noon, hence we have the morning for one last of feasting and last minute shopping. So we went back to one of our favorite ramen store at Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane), Shinjuku. Blogged about this store on my first day in Tokyo, can check it out at http://lifewithjacee.blogspot.sg/2014/07/tokyo-day-1-2.html.

Signature Roast Pork Ramen
This time round I tried their signature dish, the roast pork ramen! Was so satisfied with their roast pork the other time we were here, so i decided to have a bowl full of their signature roast pork this time round! The whole bowl of goodness only cost 890 Yen and I was super satisfied and full! :D
After which, we then took the train down to Harajuku for last round of shopping, and of course not forgetting my favorite crepe topped with ice cream! Harajuku is filled with stores selling crepes and every store sells great crepes around Tokyo, so you can just pop by any store and get nice desserts anytime of the day. I personally prefer soft crepes and I was so elated when I can just get them easily everywhere around Tokyo! I had almost 1 every day *guilty max*

Did some shopping in daiso and bought some cosmetics before taking the subway back to hotel and packed our stuffs. Ended up having a fully stuffed luggage and also had to hand carry some stuffs back cause we bought too much stuffs!! Took the express train to the airport, got our suica card refunded and went on to check in our luggage. As we got some spare time, we then shopped around the airport and ended up getting more food and souvenirs (packed ramen, royce chocolates, kit kat, biscuits etc) before settling down at their food court for lunch. There's really a lot of shops in the airport and if you had no time or have forgotten to get souvenirs for your friends and family, you can do it at the airport!
Slowly made our way to our gates with such nice view along the way! As I'm blogging now, I'm missing Tokyo soo much!! Can't wait to plan our next trip there again~ Till the next trip, I'll miss you Tokyo!!

If you guys have any recommendations on where to visit next in Japan, do let me know! (:
